My Philosophy of Teaching

A good teacher is…
I believe that teaching is the most incredible profession in the world. To be a teacher, is to be a role model for leadership, a parent who cares, and a clown full of humor. A good teacher fosters learning, creates a world of discovery and interaction, and wants students to succeed. A high-quality instructor encourages parent involvement and diversity within the classroom. They create an environment where every child feels welcome and is able to succeed to their full potential. A good teacher would risk anything to educate a needy child.

I believe the children are our future...
Children are a special edition to our growing world. They are full of curiosity as to what is going on. My role as a teacher is to help them explore the possibilities in life and give them the tools to make their own decisions. Students will be exposed to various things ranging from social interaction in the classroom to overall community involvement. For decision-making purposes, they will be able to establish their own classroom rules, and will be expected to follow them. For each bad behavior, a consequence will follow, helping students to understand that making bad decisions will result in punishment. Furthermore, positive reinforcement will be used as well. When the student behaves in a positive manner, then they will be positively reinforced with a reward. Although positive reinforcement will be used, students will be encouraged to have intrinsic values. In society, we of course will not be rewarded for everything, and as a teacher, it is my duty to implement this. Through interactive lessons, group work, and individual work, students will realize that learning something new can be fun and rewarding. Establishing these values will help students to become better students in the classroom and better citizens in society.

Teach them well and let them lead the way...
Each child has something unique to bring to the classroom. They all have different ways of learning and dealing with everyday situations. As a teacher, I will give them the tools to cultivate their own garden of knowledge. Exposure to a discovery-based classroom environment will help students have a genuine appreciation for learning and all it has to offer. Furthermore, parents will also be an integral part of this process. By helping students with homework and encouraging them to do well both academically and socially, parents will be the backbone of the learning process. As a teacher, I want to teach my students how to love and appreciate learning new things.

Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride...

It is important that children realize that everyone is different and unique. Like a parent, I will embrace everyone’s differences, pointing out that everyone is equal and special. My students will learn to appreciate diversity, through multicultural-based lessons and constant community involvement. They will be exposed to people of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds, so they can embrace the many differences others have. I will teach my students to love themselves, love others, and love learning.

Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be...
Teaching is a lasting process of learning new strategeries, learning from parents and colleagues, and most importantly learning from your students. Children have taught me that humor is the key to success, and that without it you cannot get very far. Because of that, I will always have a smiling face every day, and remember that teaching is a profession full of life.
